SMC welcomes a new accompanist for 2022
Stacey Xiaoyu Yang joined the Choir as Accompanist in December 2021.
Following completion of her degree in Medical Science at the University of Sydney in 2007, Stacey pursued her musical studies at Trinity College London and gained her Licentiate in Music (Piano) at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music in 2012.
She completed her Masters in Music at Eastman School of Music Rochester NY in 2017 where she majored in organ including as a doctoral candidate (majoring in organ performance and literature). She is currently also completing a Masters Degree in Collaborative Piano at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music.
Stacey joined Concordia Ensemble in 2021 and has been active as both co-music director and accompanist. She is the resident Organ Scholar at St Paul’s College, University of Sydney and at St Mark’s, Darling Point. She is the assistant organist at Hunter Baillie Presbyterian Church, Annandale and former assistant organist at St James' Church, King Street, Sydney.
Stacey has performed extensively as an organist including at the Sydney Opera House, St James' Church, Christ Church St Laurence, Our Lady's Basilica at Tongeren in Belgium, Marktkirche, Wiesbaden in Germany, Hong Kong Cultural Centre and cathedrals in Sydney, Melbourne, Newcastle, Antwerp, and Madrid.
Stacey is a gifted musician who in recent years, along with her private students, has been a music teacher in major Sydney high schools.
