Back to the Sydney Male Choir, our accompanist Eleanor Gair
Eleanor Gair LRSM FTCL
Eleanor is returning to the Choir after a successful 15 years as the accompanist from 1998 to 2013. Her involvement in choral accompaniment goes back over 45 years to her early days as a student at Avondale College, where she played for ensembles with Alan Thrift and David Clark. It was this connection that led to her original position with the choir with Alan Thrift as conductor, until his retirement.
For many years Eleanor also had her own private music studio for teaching and accompaniment, and taught at Abbotsleigh and the Sydney Grammar Schools when she arrived in Sydney in 1993. She has also worked with the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Choir and the True Colours Chorus, Darwin.
While working with the choir she toured to England, Ireland and Wales in 1998, and also the Choir Centenary Tour to France and England in 2013. There were also two tours to New Zealand and many trips within Australia. Highlights of these trips are recorded on the many CDs that were put out over these years and the Film Buff production of the Century of Song documentary.
Eleanor is looking forward to collaborating with Warwick and making music together to continue the tradition of Bringing Joy Through Song.
