Introducing our Accompanist Dewi Liu

Dewi Liu

Dewi Hsuan-Yu Liu joined the Sydney Male Choir as accompanist in September 2013. She holds a Master of Music Studies degree from Sydney Conservatorium in Piano Accompaniment. As well as working with the Sydney Male Choir, she can be found active in collaborating with other soloists, choirs and chamber music. She is also a piano pedagogue.

Dewi was a finalist in the Sydney Conservatorium Piano Concerto Competition 2011, and played at the premier of “Opera at the Phoenix” in Australia. Since 2013 she has been pianist and choir accompanist at the National Australian Braille Music Camp, where she also began transcribing braille music. In 2015 Dewi was granted a full pianist scholarship to participate in Bel Canto Summer Voice Program in Munich.

Dewi has developed a great working relationship with the SMC and with our previous Music Director Dr Houston Dunleavy, and this, coupled with the precision and sensitivity of her playing, greatly enhances the effectiveness of rehearsals and the success of performances.

She is currently an active rehearsal pianist in Monday Nightingale Choir, Sydney International Grammar School Choir and the official pianist in Sydney Male Choir since 2013.
